I am interested in any recent news about the Vivarais Railway. I read that it had shut down b/c of poor management in 2008. My father Edgar Mead, now us, own one of the locomotives. I was hoping someone in the narrow guage community might have news.

Wendy an 0-4-0 Bagnall locomotive of 1919 form the Hampshire Narrow Gauge Railway Trust is returning to Hayling Island at the Steam and Goods Gala on the 19th and 20th of September at the Hayling Seaside Railway (HSR). This will be the first steam locomotive to visit the HSR. Wendy will be hauling Passanger trains over the weekend whilst the HSR own industrial diesel locomotives will be hauling goods trains along with visiting Schoma Diesel locomotive (Jenny) from the Amberly Chalk Pits Museum.

Rudyard lake steam railway will be holding its anual steam gala on te 3rd and 4th october 2009,
the visiting engines this year will consist of:-
the leek and manifold loco “E.R. Calthrop” from trago mills
“Peggy sue” from pulborough
“Pullborough” (from pullborough)
there will be four trains running, and will feature all the resident steam locomotives in action aswell.

Sunday the 4th October is a date for your diary, as it is the West Lancashire Light Railway’s annual ‘Industrial Day’, with special visitor ‘Sragi No 1’ Krass 4045 of 1899 – from Statfold Barn Railway
The event is for One Day only, and will feature ‘Sragi’ along with all the available steam locomotives from the West Lanc’s fleet together with many of the Diesel locomotives not normally seen out on the mainline will be
Performing with Goods Trains
The Fun starts at 12.00 until 4.30pm and the timetable will feature as many variations of train and locomotive as possible throughout the day.
In addition it is hoped that there will be visiting vehicle and traction engines on display.
