HOLLYCOMBE RAILWAY WEEKEND

This years event is a special WW1 themed weekend with a rare chance to see British and German war department locomotives together, accompanied by various ww1 road vechicles. There will also be a large photographic display of artifacts from the Longmoor military railway. Along with our own locomotives we will have visiting locos: the War Office locomotive societies Hunslet 4-6-0t no 1215, Barry Curls German Feldbahn 0-8-0t, ex Cadeby Bagnell 0-4-0t “pixie”, recently repainted Arn Jung 0-4-0WT. The tramway will feature the recently arrived Brindon familys 0-4-0 diesel loco which will be on loan to Hollycombe whilst their Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0t “Commander B” undergoes a overhaul. There will also be static display of peckett 0-4-0st “Victoria” (ex Cadeby) and ex Nine Elms steam crane which is also under going an overhaul. Many other visiting locos on the minature railway and model railway displays.

Hunslet tunnelling contract

Hunslet Engine Co have hired back three diesel tunneling locos sold three years ago for a cable tunnel contract in east London, part of the preparations for the olympic site. The 1994 locos were in the last batch (HE9346 – HE9351) built at Hunslet’s Jack Lane works and have been hired from their present owners at Welsh Highland, Leadhills & Wanlockhead and Golden Valley railways for the 6 month contract.
