Progress at Wharf

At lunch-time yesterdayday (Friday 28th January) on our Architect’s recommendation, we accepted the Practical Completion of the new Wharf Station. We still have some way to go before we will be able to fully move in and show the general public around. However, we are confident that by the start of the main season (March 23rd) we will have the offices, café and the kitchen open.

A meeting will be held this weekend to discuss the re-installation of the large engines and will have a clearer picture early next week when we have spoken to the other contractors involved as to how soon we will then be able to open the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum; please watch this space.

During January, the shop has been emptied, the north wall demolished and re-built in new brick. The new inner wall has been rendered and was plastered on Thursday. The floor is a mess and is being prepared to receive a self-levelling screed and then Welsh slate tiles. New electrics, lights and a coat of paint are also planned – all work being managed (and some of it performed) by "the men at Pendre". It’s going to be a rush to get all this finished for half-term – but it will be opened when it’s ready!
