Relaying the Wharf Edge

Over the Christmas New Year period the Young Members’ Group and others helped relay track on the Wharf edge and reinstate the turntable (formerly outside the Museum). Other tidying up and track work tasks were also carried out at the same time. The relaying involved digging out, with assistance from the Bobcat, from by the coal road down to the TR Boundary by the former weighbridge hut, the last section being in slate waste meaning it all had to be done by hand. The turntable has been installed to provide access to the new "Heritage Siding" – it had to be taken to pieces, the six rollers made to work again, a new centre pin installed, and then all put in place, final lift taking place in in a hail storm using the light from the bobcat.

Keith Theobald and Lawrence Garvey have contributed these photographs.
