Wharf Redevelopment - Further Delay
A further delay in the completion of the new station building at Wharf was confirmed last week following an earlier inspection by the Building Inspector. Some remedial work will be necessary before the building can be fully used and opened to the public. Due to the coming Christmas/New Year holiday period, it is anticipated that this work will take 5-6 weeks to complete. The reasons for this problem will be investigated, but rectification is clearly a priority.
We regret, therefore, that the new building will not be open for Christmas/New Year – this one, at least! We do have the full platform and getting to the café will be a little easier since the road crossing should not be obstructed by carriages or the loco. Santa’s grotto should be in the new Guards’ room too. Installation of the new kitchen is targeted to be completed today (Wednesday) and painting of the museum’s first floor gallery and Awdry Study are underway.
