Oakely quarry from afar

This photo, probably taken in 1978 or 1979 was taken from Llechwedd quarry looking across the valley to Oakely quarry on the far hillside. You can clearly see the main pits of the quarry at the top and the vast slate tips below with inclines and tramways still criss-crossing their sides. The Gloddfa Ganol tourist attraction was at the time in place in and around the sheds visible in the middle right of the photo.
