In the early 1800\'s mining for lead and zinc began in Laxey on the Isle of Man. By the 1870\'s two small steam locomotives were bought to replace horses for transporting the ore to the washing floors. Today, two replica locomotives, the \"Ant\" and the \"Bee\" have been built, and are used to give passengers a half mile round trip along the valley to the Laxey Wheel. Vaughan Gallois.
