Lyd at Launceston - 16th to 19th September

The recently completed L&B replica 'Lyd' will be visiting the Launceston Steam Railway this September.

Following unloading on Wednesday 15th, it is intended Lyd will complete a trial run on Thursday 16th.

Providing this trial run is satisfactory, it is anticipated that Lyd will haul some public trains on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th. Lyd will then haul all public trains on Sunday 19th September.

All LSR trains hauled by Lyd will be top and tailed with a resident Quarry Hunslet - either Lilian or Covertcoat.

It is intended that trains will run to the normal hourly timetable - however if there is sufficient demand on the day trains will run to a more intensive timetable.

No pre-booking required, no additional charge to ride behind Lyd, no park and ride miles from the station. Come along and ride behind a replica Southern loco on Southern territory for the first time.

Keep an eye on the LSR website for further updates or any changes - [www.launcestonsr.co.uk]

Travel to Da Lat in rainy season

Travel to Da Lat in rainy season
Da Lat– the beauty of highland Vietnam – is the most graceful in winter. Da Lat is covered by the mix of fog and sunshine. Wild flower anemones pave all road one fresh yellow. Tourists knit hands in warm gloves admire the dream of Da Lat.
Between August and October, rainy season in Da Lat is the summer of almost other parts of Vietnam. People are afraid of heat, they travel to Da Lat. People want a winter atmosphere, they travel to Da Lat. Da Lat is busy to welcome thousands of tourists, again.
Travel to Da Lat, you own a chance to see many top imposing waterfalls of Vietnam: Prenn, Camly, Pongour… Like a part of Da Lat, these waterfalls become more impressive at this time of year. The strong flow has the color of alluvion, it’s cool and amazed.

Once travelling to Da Lat, it’ll be a mistake if missing lakes which infatuate all people have been here. Xuan Huong Lake called the eye of Da Lat, lays in the right center of city. Da Lat hotels almost are built to look at this lake and make a circle around it. Xuan Huong Lake and Da Lat are perfect for an evening ride by couple bicycle. The hot by riding will be deleted by Da Lat rain. Rain in Da Lat isn’t long, isn’t heavy. It rains like a performance, just enough to make hair wet, just enough to make people closer.

Da Lat has been famous all over the world as a flower center of Vietnam, so the thing you can’t miss in Da Lat is flowers. Tourists will see thousands kind of flowers, they’re grown in green house, in local people houses and they grow themselves on the roadsides. The cold of Da Lat winter isn’t cold enough to kill flowers, it’s just enough to make them a little gentle frozen and fresher in lovely rain.
Talking about Da Lat until tomorrow still can’t show how beautiful it is. Valleys, churches, beauty-spots… The best way to know Da Lat is travelling and enjoying it yourself. Just my experiences, hiring a travel guide to have a full-perfect Da Lat tour.

LYNTON & BARNSTAPLE RAILWAY GALA, 25-27 SEPTEMBER 2010

The Ffestiniog Railway’s newly completed, full-sized L&B Manning Wardle replica LYD is coming to Woody Bay in North Devon - accompanied by original L&B coach No.15 (now FR No.14) and Ffestiniog Railway 1st class carriage No.102 to form a heritage train especially for our Autumn Gala.

How many of us thought that, 75 years after the L&B’s closure, everyone would now have the opportunity to ride into Woody Bay behind an engine of the type that was used on the L&B and in the last carriage to leave Woody Bay Station on 29th September 1935?

As well as the visiting L&B steam loco replica LYD, our resident steam locos, AXE and SID, will be in action and there will also be Real Ales, a Hog Roast, Model Marquee and free entertainment for the kids, and maybe one or two surprises as well.

LYD and the heritage coaches will run alternately with AXE and the resident coaches during the day.

The 'first ever' LYD train will be on Saturday 26th at 9 am. Tickets for this unique occasion will be £20.

Tickets to ride in the Heritage Train are only £5 at other times during the Gala Weekend and seats will be allocated in the L&B Coach first and then in the Ffestiniog coach if the L&B coach is full.

LYD tickets can only be purchased with Gala Entry tickets. With fewer than 40 seats on each heritage train we strongly advise booking your seat in advance.

Park & Ride will be operating from the market site at Blackmoor Gate and from Caffyns Halt with only Blue Badge parking available at Woody Bay Station. There is no parking at Woody Bay.

Gala entry tickets cover Park & Ride, entry to the site and all-day travel behind AXE (subject to capacity).

If for any reason we cannot operate the heritage train, refunds will be available on entry.

Locomotive LYD

Built largely at Boston Lodge, and destined for service on the Ffestiniog and WelshHighland Railways, LYD was first steamed in June 2010, and is the culmination of a fifteen years plus project to build a replica L&B locomotive. These fine engines were last seen in operation in 1935, after which the line closed and the locos were scrapped - with the exception of one which was exported to Brazil and never seen again.

In the early part of the 20th Century the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway formed, arguably, the most sophisticated development of the British narrow gauge. Its story has been told in numerous books and articles, culminating in the unhappy closure in 1935. It was a line connected in many people’s minds with Sunny West Country holidays. This may account for the enormous nostalgia on a par with other lost lines such as the Somerset and Dorset, and for the large number of period amateur photographs. These often featured the three elegant locomotives purpose built for the line in 1897, followed by a fourth in 1925.

One or two of the project supporters actually rode on the line in their childhood. Many who missed the opportunity dream of recreating similar scenes from the past for the benefit of present and future generations. These ambitious proposals have now becoming reality.

Ffestiniog Railway Carriage No.14, Ex-L&B No. 15

One of 16 carriages built especially for the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway in 1897 by the Bristol Wagon & Carriage Co. L&B No. 15 was delivered as a brake third, but was soon altered to a composite. When the L&B was sold to the Southern Railway in 1922, this carriage was renumbered No. 6993. As part of the last train, it was the last coach to leave Woody Bay at approximately 8:20pm Sunday 29th September 1935. After closure the carriage was purchased by a local farmer who kept it on a short length of track on the trackbed north of Snapper Halt. It was used by evacuees during the war, and later as a hen house, before being bought by the Ffestiniog Railway in 1959. It was transported to Boston Lodge where it was rebuilt into a buffet car. It has now operated in North Wales for longer than it operated on the L&B. Returning to Devon for a brief visit after more than 50 years.

Ffestiniog Railway Carriage No.102

As the profile of this and other centenary stock is based on that of the former Lynton and Barnstaple Carriage 14, combined with the spacious interiors, significantly larger than previous FR carriages, they were given the affectionate nickname, "The Barns".

A First Class Observation carriage similar to 100 and 101 – No.102 entered service in August 2005 - the 50th anniversary of the restoration of passenger trains in 1955. Fitted with moveable seats and tables in the observation end to allow wheelchairs to be accommodated, it is sumptuously appointed and also provided with heating.

The visit of this loco and carriages – the first time ever to another railway – has only been made possible through to the massive support and assistance given by Paul Lewin and his team at the Ffestiniog Railway as well as from the FR Company and Trust. The L&B wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for this unprecedented show of solidarity by one of the “old guard” to one of the newcomers.

Advantages To Investing In Costa Rica

Similar to the real estate aion power leveling investment boom in California over 30 years ago, investing in Costa Rica is more promising than investing in other locations now. The drive to invest in Costa Rica is from those who understand lineage 2 time card the profit to be made and from individuals who wish to own their own piece of Paradise. Currently Fortune 500 companies have cataclysm cd key found Costa Rica as a great place to open offices.
When making a decision to wow cataclysm power level invest or live somewhere we all take time to weigh out the benefits. One benefit to investing in Costa Rica is the beautiful and unique culture. Other countries may be as affordable yet cataclysm leveling none can come close to the culture, lifestyle, nature, etc. which Costa Rica has to offer. The country has a population over 3.5 million people final fantasy 14 gil not making it large at all but the people have extremely large hearts and welcome new residents and investors with open arms to this country. Oftentimes investors want to invest in another final fantasy 14 power level country but language is a barrier. In Costa Rica is not the case as English is the second language so dealing and negotiating real estate in Costa Rica can be done with ease. Costa Rica final fantasy 14 power leveling is the only country outside of the aion power level U.S. that has more U.S. residents per capita.
Costa guild wars 2 power leveling Rica culture also presents the opportunity to visit and even invest in the most beautiful Costa Rican vacation rentals youve seen. Each one has breath taking views and opportunities for water sports, cheap ffxiv gil fishing or just lying on the beach. In addition to the beautiful beaches, you will find tropical plants and terrain, which youve only seen on postcards. The beautiful Arenal volcano is also in Costa ff14 gil aion online kinah Rica and has not erupted gw2 gold in years.
Former Costa Rican real guild wars 2 power level estate investors will attest that the friendliness of the people. Whether you are from a large city or a small town, you will feel comfortable. It is more similar however to small town living. Even buy aion gold in a culture that is developing rapidly, investors and business owners alike will discover that the Costa Rican government is always excited buy warhammer gold to attract foreign investors. For both business owners and real estate investors, taxes are low in Costa aoc gold Rica.
Holding property in Costa Rica as non-citizens buy cheap wow gold and non-residents is not difficult. In Costa Rica, almost all property of value, such as land, cars, and even cell phones are held buy cheap wow gold in the names of a corporation. In order to purchase real estate or make any type of investment as a non-resident in Costa Rica, it must be done though a corporation. The entity structure known as an aion powerleveling SA is what is widely used. A Sociedad Anonima (SA) is a standard corporation equivalent to a U.S. corporation. One will pay 5-6% to close on property in Costa Rica however, Costa Vista Land buy aoc gold eu takes care of all this for the investor warhammer gold eu when you buy from them.
It is suggested to hold the land cheap warhammer power leveling as long as you can, at least 12-24 months, before you decide to do anything with it. Oftentimes the investor does not know where to get the money to invest in the desired buy cataclysm cd key property but the easiest way is to look into retirement accounts such as IRAs, 401Ks, etc. It is possible to avoid any penalties by transferring warhammer time card those monies into foreign accounts or by buying foreign property. Your tax advisor or attorney can better inform you on your specific situation and your rise of the godslayer key best options.

Tips to Hiring a Good Realtor to Sell Your Home

Are you looking for a buy aion kina Realtor to represent you in the sale of your home? Here are 8 tips that will help you make a good decision buy aion gold on choosing a Realtor.
1. ff14 gil Business decision, not a personal one
Selling your home is not an easy task in today's market. aion power level It is challenging and you need someone that is up to the task. Use a full time real estate professional with a proven track record. Think twice before buy cheap wow gold using a family member or friend who has not sold a home since 2005. This may be the largest transaction of your life so make it a business decision. It is best to hire good representation from cheap aion kinah day one.
2. Ask aion gold for a referral
Ask your friends and family cataclysm power leveling members to refer you to a good Realtor. Someone you know has probably used a good real estate agent. Ask around and get a list of good Realtors to interview. They will probably tell you a few cheap ff14 gil not to use.
3. Interview gw2 power levelRealtors
Most final fantasy xiv power level Realtors hate this tip. Meet with more than one agent and have them do a listing presentation for you. This usually consists of their marketing plan, backgrounds, background on their brokerage and cheap aion power leveling a valuation of your property.
4. Hire the biggest ffxiv gold producer?
Don?t assume that the highest producer is the best buy ffxiv gil Realtor or gives the best service. Would you rather work with a good Realtor who has forty listings or a good Realtor that has ten? You probably will end up with cheap wow gold better service with the Realtor that spread between only 10 listings. That is not always the case but this is what you can uncover when you interview cheapest wow gold them. The larger producer may sell ten homes between $2 million and $3 million a year. If your home is worth $300,000 would you rather use that Realtor or one who sells twenty homes a year priced between cheap aion gold $300,000 and $400,000?
5) You get aion kinah what you pay for
I am just as frugal as the next warhammer gold guy. However, often times you get what you pay for. The market dictates what Realtors charge for services. It is a negotiable item and there are discount brokerages warhammer gold for sale out there.
From the outside it appears that Realtor make way cheap aoc gold too much money. 6% of $400,000 is $24,000. That is a lot of money. However, when you break it down and spread it around it isn?t as much as you age of conan gold think. That commission is usually split between the listing agent and selling agent. The Realtors have to split with their brokers. Brokers have to pay aion power level their staff, rent, advertising, light bill, utilities, etc. Promoting your listing to find a buyer costs money so there are expenses like photography, advertising, direct mailers, signs, websites etc. The agents belong to cheap wow power level one or several Realtor Associations. We have to pay dues to all of those Associations. To promote the listing on the MLS we have to pay dues to access the MLS. The expenses go on. lineage 2 accounts Realtors probably don?t make aoc power leveling as much money as you think.
I have a friend in the business who lotro power leveling says, ?If you want to pay peanuts you end upsto gold working with monkeys.?
6) Don?t let the Realtor warhammer accounts buy your listing

If you are a cheap aion gold hard working professional, student, or athlete, you more like than not have come across a time where you needed extra energy. Many of you even need energy on a regular basis. But the options available are just not very good. cheap wow power leveling Energy drinks are unhealthy, cause crashes, and have too much liquid. Energy shots are a little better, but they cost $2.50 each! They aion kina might do the trick, but will bust your wallet in the process.
The Everyday Energy Shot powder was born out of a desire to create something truly new and beneficial to people by solving this problem. aion online gold The people at Everyday Energy got tired of the same old repackaged sameness and dubious macho names. It seemed to them that people were out to just make a quick buck by copying some successful aion kinah energy drink and try to ffxiv gold get people to buy their stuff.
Instead, what they did was obsessively work to create a great tasting energy shot powder product to redefine what is possible buy ffxiv gil with energy drinks. Low in calories lasts for hours, and with an emphasis on mental focus, they created our product with hard working people such as students and professionals in mind. They've even cheap ffxiv gold managed to get athletes to convert to our product because they love the mental focus and physical recovery offered by the Everyday buy aion kinah Energy Shot.
But what really makes their product special is that it allows people to buy 60 shots at a time, all in one bottle. Not only is each aion online account shot - made from one scoop of powder - extremely effective and lasts for hours, it's at least 50% more affordable than other energy drinks and shots. Not having to package and mix each shot individually allows aion time card them to offer you unheard of prices without sacrificing any of the effectiveness. So if you're a hard working, success driven person, try it today. For buy aion account those of you who need an effective energy boost on a regular basis, there is simply no better choice than Everyday Energy Shots. buy wow game card

Six-hundred buy ffxiv gold and thirteen commandments in the Bible, digested down to two boards, with five key items on each chart, numerically indexed. This may have been the first use of Federal Rule 1006, which allows for the use of summary charts ffxiv time card of otherwise voluminous material. As the courts are becoming more liberal with the use of visuals during opening statements, the trial buy ffxiv power leveling attorney has an increasing obligation to use that portion of the trial to organize the case for the jury. The process of jurors hearing testimony is similar to that of being given pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, cheap aion kinah one at a time, with the objective to assemble the final picture.
Imagine wow time card how difficult this could be if one is not first shown the picture on the cover of the box. Using visuals during the opening statement is like showing the jury the cover of the box. Now they know what they buy aion kinah are supposed to do with the pieces (testimony), and like the pieces of a puzzle, there is only one way they will fit together to make the picture that the attorney has proposed. During the opening statement each attorney aion power level has a chance to show the picture on the cover of her or his box as it illustrates the theme and focus of the case. cataclysm power level
The laws of primacy (what the jury heard at the beginning of the case) and recency (what the jury heard last) dictate the innovative use of visuals wow cataclysm cd key during opening statements and closing arguments and should be considered when planning for these points in the trial presentation. Visual final fantasy xiv gil evidence should be incorporated into the presentation of every key point in both the plaintiff’s and the defendant’s case. It helps to focus jurors on the strength and logic of the attorney’s case and the weaknesses cheap aion time card of the adversary’s.
Demonstrative evidence plays an buy wow power leveling increasingly larger role in trials for several reasons. Jurors now expect to have engaging presentations of the facts. They have come to believe buy wow key that big cases, both civil and criminal, will have substantial visual components incorporated into them. The pioneering efforts sto power leveling of Attorney Melvin Belli in the last half of the twentieth century toward the effective use of visual aids set the stage for the attorney to think in final fantasy 14 gil terms of courtroom persuasion.
Law, by tradition, has been a profession of words and oratory in the courtroom, but we are living in a visual society. The Baby Boomers and Generation X’ers have cheap gw2 gold been brought up in front of television sets. They are more accustomed to seeing and hearing news than reading it from a printed page. The success of buy aion leveling the newspaper USA Today is an example of color visual support (in the form of maps, charts, and graphics) to supplement the printed story.
Even the wow power level television medium has maximized the use of visual support for the spoken word, by going to the video of the actual event as opposed to the reporter’s summary and retelling of the events. When introducing a story wow power leveling eu for a news segment, there will usually be a graphic icon or symbol of some kind on the screen next to the reporter to visually anchor the general warhammer power level theme of the story. Anchoring is an important technique to be considered throughout the trial and should be considered for each key witness or expert. Careful use of demonstrative evidence provides opportunities warhammer leveling to anchor concepts and drive home points to the jury. For all the couples, each anniversary is considered as a milestone, and to make it all aoc power level the more special.

Analysis of the accounts (2008) for the PRNGRT strongly supports the contention that apart from records and photographs the trust does not appear to own any other heritage assets and more specifically, the collection stored at Marwick Farm. That it is owned by the VoR remains moot since their asset register is not in the public domain and the accuracy of compilations purporting to list such stock is questionable. Of course the other possibility is that the collection at Marwick is the personal property of Mr Rampton. If this is the case then he is quite entitled to his privacy.

However, on the reasonable assumption that the Marwick collection is owned by the VoR with Mr Rampton as one of its trustees, then I can see no reason for his reluctance to provide information regarding its composition in accordance with the charitable aims of both the VoR and the PRNGRT.

East German 2' gauge

Just spent 4 wonderful days on a trip I organised for myself in the former East Germany.I visited the 2' gauge lines at Weiswasser(Waldeisenbahn) Cottbus and Berlin. The Cottbus Park Railway and the Waldeisenbahn normally have their steam running days on the first weekend of the month.Unfortunately the dry weather meant the Cottbus railway dare not risk their 0-8-0 Brigadelok,so I had to settle for a ride on their small diesel.Very pleasant line through the park with plenty of good video spots(next time)
The Waldeisenbahn however did run their 2 0-8-0s 99 3317 and 99 3312.There were 5 trips to Bad Muskau and 7 to Kromlau each day,so plenty of opportunity to ride and video on these very scenic lines.I must also mention their open air cafe on the platform at Weiswasser, good food and beer at very low prices, much visited doring my full 2 days of visits. The Friday before the steam weekend was a diesel day and I was pleased to ride behind and video their 2 largest diesels 0-6-0 KO0472 and 0-4-0 KO0452.
The Berlin Park Railway does have steam days, but not when I was there.I was happy however to see their 0-6-0 diesel 199 102 in opperation. There is an interesting network of lines in the park running over many kilometres. In addition to 199 102 a smaller 0-4-0 diesel was running and between them were covering most of the lines.
So I now need to sort out a weekend when the Cottbus and Berlin Park Railways are both running steam I can't wait!

There has been a new flood protection barrier built all along here recently, and the construction work can be seen ongoing in for example the Multimap aerials. [www.multimap.com] I guess that the tracks have been exposed after cleaning up the area when the construction was finished. I must get down there and take a closer look soon.

Max, any chance of posting a link to where you can see tracks on Street View? I have lived in Lancaster most of my life and remember the old tracks which used to cross over the quay near to Williamson's when I was a boy. As I recall these were SG, and certainly you can see where the link line connected with the main network at Castle station. Looking along the riverside recently there is no longer any signs of track that I could see. This link [maps.google.co.uk] should show the place where the old track used to cross the quay road. I wonder where the network of NG tracks is? I feel silly if I have missed these, being a NG enthusiast!

Please see attached link.It seems that new workshops will be built at Aberystwyth to rebuild 37 of their 40 locomotives!

[news.bbc.co.uk]

"The Vale of Rheidol Railway has received the money from the Welsh Assembly Government A narrow gauge steam railway in Ceredigion has received a £300,000 cash injection.

The assembly government money will help pay for a restoration workshop for the Vale of Rheidol Railway's historic locomotives.

The grant is part of a £1.1m investment programme by the Aberystwyth-based tourist attraction, which will safeguard eight jobs and create eight.

The railway has 40 engines in its collection, although 37 need restoring.

Work has been carried out on them outside Wales because of a lack of facilities.

A railway spokesman said two steam engines and a diesel were in use in Aberystwyth. Eight of those requiring restoration are stored in the town, while the others are located in Surrey.

It also has 16 carriages and 13 are in use.

The railway, which was built to transport lead ore and then tourists, dates back to 1902 and was the last steam railway in the UK owned by British Rail until its privatisation in 1989.

The first phase of a 10-year development plan starts this summer following the £300,000 grant from the Welsh Assembly Government.

'Skilled workforce'

As part of the plan, the railway will construct an 1,800 sq metre restoration workshop, and it will also be used to train engineering apprentices.

The long-term proposals are to expand and develop the railway as a tourist centre attracting enthusiasts from across the UK and abroad with a range of facilities including a museum, shops and café.

The assembly government gap funding will enable the railway to access £600,000 from the Phyllis Rampton Narrow Gauge Railway Trust, with the remaining money coming from the railway.

Robert Gambrill, secretary of the Phyllis Rampton Trust, said: "Part of the workshop will be used to train youngsters in heritage skills and we will use the engines as the training tools and plan to build up a fully trained and skilled workforce.

"The intention is to offer apprenticeships and create long term jobs and help boost the local economy."

Railway manager Neil Thompson said it could cost about £350,000 to restore a locomotive.

"It also means that the skills we need are not being developed locally which is why we are very keen to ensure the workshop will become a key centre for skills training," he added.

The railway carries 35,000 passengers annually between Aberystwyth and nearby Devil's Bridge. It currently operates between Easter and October.

On a visit to the railway, Lesley Griffiths AM, deputy minister for science, innovation and skills, said the assembly government was committed to promoting the take up of science, technology, engineering and mathematics."

I am seriously considering a 16mm NG layout, possibly in the garden subject to the wifes planning approval of course. I am looking at purchasing my first loco kit in that scale and it will be the Slater's quarry loco.

I would like to have it battery powered with RC control if it's to be in the garden. Could anyone advise what motor/gearboxes are best suited to battery power and what is the best batteries to use. I would be happy to get around 4 hrs continuous running, if that's possible. (Trains would be no longer than 10 quarry type wagons, also no more than 2 or 3 Festiniog style coaches.

Looking forward to enjoying the forum and leaning about the NG scene

3114 Brockamin was my locomotive given to me by the farmer. Alan Maunde helped me restore it to steaming condition and then without my knowledge sold it. It has been superbly restored by Alan Civil and I had the pleasure of driving it on the Amerton Railway. Recent events have been exciting for me with several of the locos I saved being superbly brought back to steam. The most recent being Edward Shalto.

Visiting Lancaster Museum we walked along the river to the derelict Williamsons Lino Factory. Between the factory and the river there is a network of narrow gauge tram tracks which look worth preserving.
What sort of locomotives worked this system? Comments please.
This track is clearly visible on the Google Street Walk site.

Have posted a video of the Puerto Soller Tramway on YouTube. This is an interesting little line running between the town of Soller and the Port. Traction is electric and the line actually crosses the main Square in the town pressing its way through hordes of vistors. Very pleasant to sit on a bar terrace in square with a plate of Tapas and a nice cold beer watching the arrivals and departures.
