chasewater railway narrow gauge

By Peter Bowyer

Chasewater narrow gauge railway is based at Chasewater railway in Staffordshire. We have a 2 foot gauge railway with a small main line and a marshaling yard and a loco yard with a couple of sheds. In the future we hope to extend though the Country park where we are based to bring passengers in to the railway for the standard gauge. On the 18th and 19th of October this year we ran our first demonstration day’s to the public. The railway has been set up and running several years but as everyone knows it takes time to get every to a good standard. We had a few locos running over the two days a — Ruston 48 (Caphouse) Hunslet (Cat c) Lister (Bolton Fell)

We also had an ex Sibston man rider, 2 fat bed Hudson from Dracoon near Fishgurd, 3 mineral hoppers and 3 converted hoppers which are now passenger trucks.

On the 5th of November we went to fetch a new wagon for the railway a Hudson built flat bed wagon which was the last piece of rolling stock to leave Dracoon. which is soon to re gauged to 2 foot.

We are planning on all of the 2009 galas at the railway and hopefully at our main gala next year (which is to celebration Chasewater’s 50th birthday) we should have 1 or 2 more locos out and a couple of freshly restored wagons.
